Le discours indirect (2):

5 - Questions fermées (yes-no questions) :
'Are you feeling better', he asked.
He asked if/whether I was feeling better.

6 - Questions ouvertes :
They asked, 'When will you be ready ?'
They asked when I would be ready.

7 - Modaux :
'Can you do it ?', he asked.
He asked if I could do it.

He said, 'I have to go.'
He said that he had to go

He said, 'I must go.'
He said that he must go.

Ce dernier cas montre le seul cas où must peut être un passé, afin de garder la nuance entre must et have to.

8 - Changement du verbe de la principale :
Ordres :
He said, 'Stand up !'
He ordered me to stand up.

Conseil :
'You should be more careful', he said.
He advised me to be more careful.

Offres :
'Shall I close the window ?', he said.
He offered to close the window.

Suggestions :
He said, 'How about going to the cinema ?'
He suggested going to the cinema.

9 - subordonnées :
He said, 'If I were you, I would go and and ask the policeman.
He said that if he were me he would go and ask the policeman.
Il a dit qu'à ma place, il irait demander à l'agent de police.

10 - Propositions incises :
'Where do you think they are ?', he asked.
He asked where I thought they were.
Il m'a demandé où je pensais qu'ils étaient.
